Jonny Crook

Learning Technologist


Jonny works as a Learning Technologist in the Humanities eLearning Team at The University of Manchester. Since joining in 2009, his varied role has seen him support academics use technology in teaching and learning through a variety of projects, tools, consultancies and support methods. He leads on developing a Service Area that focuses on content development and interactive tools.

Jonny recently completed the University's Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education (PGCert). This programme helped to develop and enhance his professional development, allowing him to explore key interest areas within learning technology. Assignments focussed on the use of Lecture Capture systems within HE institutions; using video for open learning; using VR technology to enhance fieldwork studies; supporting students with digital literacies.

His current interests include, innovation with learning technology, mobile learning, lecture capture systems, digital capabilities.

Jonny graduated from York St John University with a BA (Hons) in Art & Design. He worked for MyKnowledgeMap, a learning technology company in York before moving to London to work for Ealing, Hammersmith & West London College. He lives in Manchester.
